Horrible news from the hockey world today - New York rangers forward Derek Boogaard has passed away at the age of 28. Cause of death is undetermined at this point in time. Sad news for a tight knit community such as the hockey world. Events like this should make us understand that we really are just stars in a universe and that regardless of the current events in our world, we should all be grateful to have famiy, friends and love.
Derek may have been a goon on ice but his off ice charity work and his willingness to give to help those less fortunate should always be remembered. We tend to forget that simplest of gestures make the greatest impact on the world around us. Derek, thanks for being a stellar person off the ice and your contributions to the hockey community and world won't be forgotten anytime soon.
RIP Boogey-man. All the best to your friends and family during this difficult time. Only the good die young.
Now, excuse me while I go find some of the loves of my life to high five incessantly.
